ENGINE NUMBER
The engine number indicates
month and day o f manufacture, and transm ission type. A
typ ica l engine number would be F1210FA, which would
breakdown thus:

F o r the convenience o f s e rv ic e technicians and en gi­
n eers when w ritin g up certain business papers such as
W arranty R eports, Produ ct Inform ation R eports, o r r e ­
porting product fa ilu res in any way, the location o f the
variou s unit numbers have been indicated. These unit
numbers and their p r e fix o r su ffix are n ecessa ry on these
papers fo r variou s reasons - such as accounting, fo llo w -
up on production, etc.
The p re fix e s on certain units identify the plant in
which the unit was manufactured and thereby perm its
p ro p e r follow -u p o f the plant involved to get correctio n s
made when necessary.
A lw ays include the p r e fix in the number.
