PNEUMATIC PRINTER BACKUP
The pneumatic printer backup option is a pneumatically operated plate
that moves the printer backup pad in and out to create more space for
film travel. This is commonly used with zipper to allow enough space
for the zipper to clear the printer backup pad.
For print quality and backup pad set up, refer to the printer's separate
instruction manual.

1. From the Option Screen, enable the pneumatic printer
backup.
The pneumatic printer backup is commonly used as Aux 3.
2. Set the degree timing for the pneumatic printer backup.
This setting will vary between machines and product. The backup
should fire when the film is NOT moving, the measuring roller is
stopped, and BEFORE the printer begins to print. The backup should
retract AFTER the printer finishes, and BEFORE the film begins to
move.

MPORTANT
On zipper machines, the backup movement is automatic, and
changes to the Option screen are not required. When zipper is not
used, the backup does not move.
3. Adjust the flow controls so that the pneumatic printer
backup pad does not slam or bang as it extends and
retracts.
The flow controls should not be wide open.
