FLAT BOTTOM BAG
The flat bottom bag accessory is used to produce
a bag that has a gusseted flat bottom seal and a
gabled top seal. A rectangular forming tube is
used to form the flat bottom of the bag. Top and
bottom tuckers form gussets in the bag as the end
seal jaws close. An adjustable forming box,
located below the jaws, maintains the shape of the
bag while the tucks and flat bottom are formed.
An optional bag support and eject can be used for
heavy products and to deliver the bag in an
upright position.
When installing a new forming tube, it is important to align the center-
line of the tube with the centerline of the jaws when they are closed.
The forming tube height is adjusted by moving the forming tube
mounting plate to allow the correct space for tucking. Typically
¼" is recommended between the jaw and the tucker as well as between
the tucker and the forming tube.
Optional corner creasing assemblies may be mounted to the forming
tube assembly to produce scores on the vertical edges of the bag. The
creasers fold the film over onto itself and rollers pinch the film
together. These rollers are stationary on one side and spring loaded on
the other.
