1.Turn Off heat to the side platens.
2.Adjust side platens out of the way.
Option 1
This is to ensure the side platens do not strike anything while running.
3.Move center platen to lowest position.
If it is not possible to adjust the platens out of the way, then remove the side platens com-
pletely from the machine. Platen removal and reinstallation is easier when using the spring
compressor tools provided to compress the platen springs.
1.Turn Off the heat to the side platens.
2.Insert the spring compressors as shown in Figure 14: Platen Removal and Installation
Spring Compressor Tool, until fully seated (2 per platen).
The spring compressors may be left in place until the platens are reinstalled.
3.Disconnect the wiring using the quick electrical disconnects.
Option 2
4.Remove the side seal platens.
a. unlock and remove the outer knobs and washers
b. slide the platens off
c. remove the remaining washers and knobs
5.Mover center platen to the lowest position.

The quad seal platen may be run in a standard pillow bag or flat bottom
bag configuration.
Side Platen Deactivation Options:

MPORTANT
The washers are "spherical" and come in sets of two. Reinstall the
washers in pairs in exactly the same orientation as they were before
removal.
