punches and placement of the punches is determined by each applica-
tions requirements. The punch location is adjustable along the width of
the assembly.
The pneumatic web punch requires timing entries (FROM/TO) to set
the point during the bag cycle the punches will fire. The timing is simi-
lar to that of a printer after the film pull cycle has stopped.
POKER
Poker Arm
The poker conditions the product into the funnel and forming tube and
prevents the product from becoming lodged in the tube. There are two
poker options: Continuous and On-Demand. Chapter 5 of this manual
details poker timing and setup via the user screens.
Continuous - Poker timing is initiated by the dump signal. After the
product is discharged, the poker arm pivots into the forming tube to
break up any product blocks, allowing it to flow freely down the tube.
On-Demand - The poker system contains a sensor in the forming tube
that detects each time product passes through. If a bag cycle completes
without product passing by the sensor, the poker activates and clears
the jam. The sensor also checks to verify the jam has been cleared and
activates a continuous tube and a registration setup before returning to
normal operation. Product caught in the forming tube and cleared by
the poker is fed into the continuous tube and tossed aside by pack-off
operators. The typical time to clear a bridge and restart the machine is
less than one (1) minute.
