4. While supporting the platen assembly, pull out the pivot
pin.

MPORTANT
When removing the pivot pin, do not allow the bronze thrust
washers to fall. This may cause damage to the washers.
5. Remove the platen assembly.
6. Place the new platen in position.
7. Push in the pivot pin.
8. Connect the airlines to the platen.
9. Connect the electrical lines to the platen.
10. Restore power and air to the machines
A four-side fin seal package requires two double platen fin seal assem-
blies - one in front of the forming tube assembly and one behind it. The
end seals are formed by the jaws.
Side fin seals are created on the sides of the bag versus the back of the
bag. The side seals are created by the two double platen assemblies.
The stager, jaw assembly, and bag support/eject assembly are rotated
90° in a four-side seal application. The front and rear platens form the
side seals as the packaging material slides down the former. Since the
seals are formed on the front and rear of the forming tube assembly, the
orientation of the package is 90° different than a package with a stan-
dard front platen.
