CHAPTER 13: PNEUMATICS

The pneumatic system provides clean, dry air for seal cooling and
lubricated air for the valves and air cylinders. The air supplied to the
machine must be clean, dry and a minimum of 65 PSI.

the pneumatic components.
SYSTEM COMPONENTS
Different machine models may have different pneumatic system com-
ponents. Overall, the functionality of both systems is the same.
Incoming air is filtered to remove particles and moisture. The regulator
is factory set at 65 PSI for proper operation of machine functions. The
filter must be emptied and cleaned periodically to remove moisture and
dirt.

Do not allow water to enter the air system. Damage to compo-
nents and personnel could result.
The filter is a 5-micron rated reusable element. The
quick-disconnect bowl guard and integral plastic bowl
and safety guard are standard.
There is a shutoff valve, pressure switch and pressure
gauge with the filter-regulator. This connects to an air
manifold that is used to stabilize the fluctuations on
the air flow.
An air dump valve is connected to the manifold out-
put. This shuts off the air flow when the E-Stop or
other safety related device is activated.
From the air dump valve the air flows in two direc-
tions. One direction goes to the clean air side of the air
valve assembly. The other goes through an automatic
oiler to the oiled side of the air valve assembly.

UBRICATOR
The lubricator maintains a constant oil-to-air ratio once the oil rate is
set, regardless of the changes in airflow.
