Bag Tucking
BAG TUCKING
Bag tucking is used to create a bag of equal width throughout the
length of the bag. This is done by four tucker fingers that fold in excess
film on the side of the bag at both the top and bottom. Tucked bags
have straight edges that are easier to insert into cartons or boxes.

Figure 11: Bag Tucking
The four tucker fingers are actuated by air cylinders. Spreader fingers,
attached to the forming tube, maintain the shape of the bag when the
tucker fingers extend and tuck in the sides.
Air cylinder actuation is controlled in the bag making program. The
cylinders are timed to extend just after the film pull stops. The tucking
action must be complete before the stager and end seal jaws close. The
tucker fingers retract after the jaws close.
The depth of each tucker finger is adjusted with a handle. Refer to the
chart for minimum and maximum tucking dimensions.
