c. Check the seal impression with TIPI paper.
d. If pressure is not even, repeat adjustments after each
1/8 turn until even pressure is obtained.
e. Once even pressure has been obtained, retighten set
screws A.
f. Remove power from the machine.
15. Snug the two front carrier backup screws.

MPORTANT
Tightening the two front carrier backup screws beyond snug
could cause jaw misalignment.
a. Turn the two front carrier backup screws until they just
touch the carrier face.
b. Tighten the two setscrews B.
16. Install grippers
a. Inspect and replace any grippers that are damaged or
have compressed rubber.
b. Back out all gripper jack screws to avoid interference
in the next step.
c. Install top and bottom front grippers, making sure rub-
ber cushions are inserted in slots in grippers. Tighten
the gripper mounting bolts just enough to prevent the
grippers from falling off the jaws.
d. Verify insulators are above and below the capture
areas on the grippers.
e. Push the jaws closed and lock them on center using the
jaw linkage clamp block.
f. Loosen the lock nuts on the gripper jack screws

Turn both top gripper jack screws,
forcing gripper out until rubber
cushion contacts rear gripper and
a 0.020 in. gap between front and
rear gripper is obtained on both
the left and right ends.
h. Repeat for bottom gripper.
H A Y S S E
With the jaws locked, lever adjust the
front gripper to achieve a 0.075 in. gap
between the rear gripper and the front
gripper.
If the rear gripper has a "T" rubber
insert, the gap is between the "T"
rubber face and the metal surface of the
front gripper.
If the rear gripper does not have a
"T" rubber insert, the gap is between
the two metal faces.
