This is accomplished with a motor mounted on the side of the unwind
stand that is activated from the front panel by switches designated
either for the right or left direction. If the film drifts off center, the
operator can activate the correct switch and allow the film to center
itself again.
One option offered with the motorized film unwind is the Accu-Track
Eye, which automatically senses the edge of the film and corrects the
drift.
WEB PERFORATORS
The air relief roller is a modified roller mounted in place of a standard
roller in the unwind system. The roller has sharp pins mounted across
the width of the roller to perforate the film with small holes allowing
air to escape from the bag after it is formed and sealed. During the film
pull part of the cycle the roller turns punching holes in the film as the
film advances.
This is typically used on products like dry beans that will not be dam-
aged when the air is removed. This creates more packaging space
when placing bags in boxes (case quantities).
A bagger using an air relief roller setup can have multiple air relief
rollers installed on the unwind assembly. The number of perforating
pins and placement of pins on each roller is determined by each appli-
cations requirements.
The pneumatic web punch is mounted on the machine frame after the
unwind system. The pneumatic punch assembly has a sharp pin
mounted to perforate the film with a small hole allowing air to escape
from the bag after it is formed and sealed. This is typically used on
products like dry beans that will not be damaged when the air is
removed. This creates more packaging space when placing bags in
boxes (case quantities).
