QUALI-SEAL - ESP JAW
Correct Quali-Seal jaw setup is required to produce strong seals. The
setup procedure includes several parts. Incorrect set-up of any or all of
these can result in bags with seals that leak, are deformed, or break
open easily.
The ESP jaw system is designed to eliminate the need for adjustments.
The assembly is set at the factory, but if an adjustment becomes neces-
sary, use the following sequence:
• carrier alignment
• gripper to face alignment
• jaw face alignment
• jaw pressure adjustment
To align the jaw carrier:
1.
Remove the knife.
2.
Loosen the upper and lower mounting bolts holding the
front grippers.
3.
Remove the front grippers.
4.
Lock the link arms level with the locking clamp.
5.
Loosen the front carrier position-locating collar and turn
clockwise.
6.
Place the carrier spacer blocks between the front and rear
carriers.
7.
Turn the front carrier nuts until the locating block is
clamped between the front and rear carrier.
8.
Turn the position collars counterclockwise until they con-
tact the front carrier.
9.
Lock the jam nuts against the locking nuts securing the
front carrier position.
10.
Remove the locking clamp.
11.
Retighten upper and lower mounting bolts.
12.
Restore power.
The rear gripper is spring loaded and extends beyond the rear jaw face
approximately 3/16".
1.
Remove power from the machine.
2.
Verify the rear gripper moves freely.
3.
Remove the gripper rubber from the front gripper.
4.
Mount the front gripper and adjust it out until the gripper
and face are parallel.
