Brake Adjustment

Lift the spindle and roll from the machine.
Pneumatic
Depressurize the spindle bladder

:
ARNING
If the spindle has a pneumatic bladder, be sure to depressurize it
AFTER the spindle and roll are removed from the film unwind to
prevent the roll from slipping off and causing injury.
7.
Remove the depleted roll from the film spindle.
This adjustment is factory set and normally does not require readjust-
ment. If adjustment is necessary:
1.
Turn all power to the machine Off.
2.
If film is threaded through the unwind stand, with the roll
brake engaged, turn the roll spindle to relax the film and
remove all tension from the dancer roller assembly.
3.
Remove the springs or air pressure as required:
Without Air Cylinders
Unhook the tension springs
4.
Verify the brake pad to spindle drum alignment. If offset,
follow these steps:
a. Loosen the mechanisms mounting bolt to the frame.
b. Turn the eccentric pivot shaft to realign.
c. Retighten the mounting bolt.
5.
Loosen brake pressure spring adjustment jam nut.
6.
Turn the brake pressure spring adjustment nut to set the
brake pressure spring length to 2 inches (51mm) between
the washers.
7.
Lock the brake pressure spring jam nut.
8.
Loosen jam nut on the brake release rod.
9.
Turn the brake release rod until the dancer is SLIGHTLY
ABOVE horizontal.

The dancer should not be on its stops or bumpers!

wise to loosen the roll on the spin-
dle
With Air Cylinders
Release the pressure from the air
cylinder springs
