CHAPTER 8: FORMING TUBE ASSEMBLY
Replacing a
Former
U l t i m a S V
The FTA converts a roll of film into a tube by pulling the film over a
forming shoulder. The edges are overlapped in position to create a ver-
tical seal. The FTA consists of:
• Forming Shoulder
• Last Roller
• Inner Tube
• Support Brackets
• Tube Inserts

FORMER
Round formers are most common, but there are also oval and rectangu-
lar formers. Oval formers are used with large bags in order to reduce
jaw opening and approximate the final shape of bag. Flat bottom bags
are produced with rectangular formers.
1.
Bring the machine to a controlled stop.
2.
Cut the film.
3.
Loosen the lock knobs that hold the former in place.
4.
Remove the former.
5.
Slide the new former in place and tighten the lock knobs.
6.
Thread the film.
