GEAR CASE (STANDARD ROTATION)
Check the taper roller bearing for abnormal sound and
play.
Replace the inner race and outer race as a set if
necessary.
Set a commercially available universal bearing puller
(1) under the taper roller bearing (inner race) (2) and
set the vertical shaft (3) on the hydraulic press with the
flywheel boss installation side facing up.
Remove the taper roller bearing from the vertical shaft
using a hydraulic press.
Remove the pinion gear shim (4) from the vertical shaft.
