STARTING SYSTEM
Measure the commutator (1) O.D.
STANDARD:
SERVICE LIMIT: 28.8 mm (1.13 in)
If the measurement is less than the service limit,
replace the armature with a new one.
Measure commutator (1) runout using a dial gauge (2).
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.1 mm (0.004 in)
If the measurement is more than the service limit,
replace the armature with a new one.
Check for continuity between each segment.
If an open circuit exists between any two segments,
replace the armature.
Check for continuity between the armature and
armature shaft.
If there is no continuity, replace the armature.
