CHARGING SYSTEM
ALTERNATOR INSPECTION
BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY
Measure the brush length.
STANDARD:
SERVICE LIMIT: 8.4 mm (0.33 in)
If the measurement is less than the service limit,
replace the brush holder assembly.
RECTIFIER ASSEMBLY
• Inspect the rectifier by removing it from the stator.
Check for continuity between the B terminal (1) and
respective P terminals (P1, P2, P3, and P4), and
between the E terminal (2) and respective P terminals
(P1, P2, P3, and P4). Check for continuity in two
directions by reversing the test leads.
There should be continuity only in one direction.
Replace the rectifier if necessary.
