Assemble the connecting rod and connecting rod
cap and tighten to 49 - 54 N·m (36 - 40 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: Do not rotate the connecting rod.
Remove the connecting rod cap. Measure the oil
clearance (plastigage) with the scale printed on the
gauge envelope.
NOTE: Measure the widest area.
Standard Play
0.035 - 0.085 mm
(0.001" - 0.003")
If the oil clearance exceeds the allowable limit,
replace the bearing or grind the crankshaft and use
an undersize bearing.
NOTE: When grinding the outside diameter of the
crankshaft, be sure that the oil clearance is correct
before reassembly.
