configure sflow backoff-threshold

configure sflow backoff-threshold <rate>
Description
Configures the maximum number of packets sent to the sFlow collector per second.
NOTE
This command is available only on the "i" series switches.
Syntax Description
rate
Specifies the maximum number of packets sent to the sFlow collector per second. The range is 100 -
5000
Default
The default is 50.
Usage Guidelines
This command configures the maximum number of samples sent to the CPU per second. If this rate is
exceeded, the internal sFlow CPU throttling mechanism kicks in to limit the load on the CPU. Each time
the limit is reached, the sample rate is halved (the value of number in the
sample-rate
doubled) on the slot on which maximum number of packets are received.
This effectively doubles the sampling frequency of all the ports on that slot with a sub-sampling factor
of 1. The sampling frequency of ports on that slot with a sub-sampling factor greater than 1 will not
change; the sub-sampling factor is halved so that the same sample rate applies to that port.
Use the following command to reset the sFlow backoff threshold value to 0 (zero):
unconfigure sflow backoff-threshold
Example
The following command specifies that the sFlow backoff threshold should be set to a maximum of 256
packets per second:
configure sflow backoff-threshold 256
If the number of packets sent to the sFlow collector exceeds a rate of 256 packets per second, the
sampling rate is doubled. For example, if a sampling rate of 512 is exceeded, the sampling rate is
doubled to 1024.
History
This command was first available in ExtremeWare 7.3.0.
