Security Commands

configure netlogin mac-address

configure netlogin
{<password>}
Description
Configures the MAC address/mask pairs that are used for authentication in MAC-based network login.
Syntax Description
mac address
Specifies a client MAC address in the form nn:nn:nn:nn:nn:nn.
default
Used as the default entry password the supplicant's mac-address does not match any of the
entries in the table.
mask
Specifies a mask.
password
Sets a password other than the MAC address.
Default
By default, MAC-based authentication for network login is disabled.
Usage Guidelines
MAC-based RADIUS authentication uses the MAC address of the client for authentication. This feature
is useful for devices that cannot function as 802.1x supplicants, such as IP phones. RADIUS is used as
the transport protocol for authentication.
Only one default entry can be configured; this will be used if none of the configured entries match.
If no mask is specified, the default mask ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff will be assigned to the MAC entry.
If a password is not configured locally, the user name sent in the RADIUS Access-Request is used as the
password
Example
The following example adds a MAC address/mask pair to the table used for authentication and defines
a password:
configure netlogin mac-address 00:11:33:55:77:99 mask ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:00 pngs2r
The following command configures the MAC address and mask using the default entry password
.
pngs2r
configure netlogin mac-address default pngs2r
