VLAN Commands

configure vlan protocol

configure vlan <vlan name> protocol [<protocol_name> | any]
Description
Configures a VLAN to use a specific protocol filter.
Syntax Description
vlan name
Specifies a VLAN name.
protocol_name
Specifies a protocol filter name. This can be the name of a predefined protocol filter or one you
have defined. The following protocol filters are predefined:
• IP
• IPX
• NetBIOS
• DECNet
• IPX_8022
• IPX_SNAP
• AppleTalk

Indicates that this VLAN should act as the default VLAN for its member ports.

Usage Guidelines
If the keyword
is specified, all packets that cannot be classified into another protocol-based VLAN

are assigned to this VLAN as the default for its member ports.

Example
The following command configures a VLAN named accounting as an IP protocol-based VLAN:
configure accounting protocol ip

Platform Availability
This command is available on the "i" series platforms and on the Summit 400-48t.
