♦ Cylinder head tensioning device - VAS 6419-
Work procedure
– Remove the camshaft housing

.
– When installing again, mark the assignment of the roller rocker
arms and the hydraulic clearance compensation elements.
– Remove the roller rocker arms together with the hydraulic bal‐
ancing elements and lay aside on a clean surface.
– Insert the cylinder head tensioning device - VAS 6419- into the
engine and gearbox jack - VAS 6095- .
– Tension the cylinder head in the cylinder head tensioning de‐
vice, as shown in the illustration.
– Connect cylinder head tensioning device to compressed air.
– Adjust the air bellows with the lever -arrow- below the com‐
bustion chamber on which the valve stem seals should be
removed.
– Allow just enough air to flow into the air bag so that it applied
to the valve disc.
Cylinders 1, 3, 4
– Position the guide plate -VAS 5161 A/31- onto the cylinder
head.

Labelling - E - points to intake manifold side
– Tighten guide plate with knurled screws -VAS 5161/12- by
hand.

Position of the knurled screws, as shown in the illustration
Cylinder 2
– Position the guide plate -VAS 5161 A/31- onto the cylinder
head.

Labelling - E - points to intake manifold side
– Tighten guide plate with knurled screws -VAS 5161/12- by
hand.
