Checking cylinder head for distortion
– Inspect cylinder head at several points for distortion using a
500 mm knife-edge straightedge - VAS 6075- and feeler
gauge.
• Maximum permitted distortion: 0.1 mm.
Note
Cylinder heads for TDI engines must not be reworked.
Identification of the cylinder head gasket

♦ Bores arrow -2- (ignore)

Note
Differing thicknesses of cylinder head gaskets are inserted ac‐
cording to the piston projection
