Usage Guideline
The restart-time parameter is used for setting the maximum time that a graceful restart neighbor waits to
come back up after a restart. This value is applied to all neighbors unless you explicitly override it by
configuring the corresponding value on the neighbor.
The stalepath-time parameter is used to set the maximum time to preserve stale paths from a gracefully
restarted neighbor. All stale paths, unless reinstated by the neighbor after a re-establishment, will be
deleted at the expiration of this timer.
When adjusting the timer values, the restart timer should not be set to a value greater than the hold time
that is carried in the OPEN message.
Example
This example shows how to enable the BGP graceful restart capability for all BGP neighbors.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# router bgp 65534
Switch(config-router)# bgp graceful-restart
Switch(config-router)#
10-22 bgp router-id
This command is used to configure a router ID for the local Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing
process. Use the no form of this command to remove the fixed router ID setting.
bgp router-id IP-ADDRESS

Parameters
IP-ADDRESS
Specifies the maximum time needed for neighbors to restart, in
seconds. The value is from 1 to 3600.
Specifies the maximum time to retain stale paths from restarting
neighbors, in seconds. The value is from 1 to 3600.
Specifies the router ID in the IPv4 address format as the identifier of
the local BGP router.
