Possible cause
A power failure occurred.
Bubbles are present in the
pump.
The Cathode Buffer Container
has been installed on the
instrument for >2 weeks or
used for more than the allowed
number of injections (see
"Buffer storage, usage, and
limits"
on page
26).
There is insufficient cathode or
anode buffer.
The septum on either the
Cathode Buffer Container or
the sample plate is not
installed correctly.
Buffer or other liquid was
spilled on top of the reservoir
septum or on top of the
autosampler.
There is condensation on the
Cathode Buffer Container or
around the reservoir septum.
A bubble is present in the

Recommended action
Restart the instrument. See "Power off or
power on the instrument"
A run that was in progress at the time of the
power failure must be restarted.
Run a control sample or perform an install
run to ensure that the consumables have not
degraded.
Replace the consumables if the results with
a control sample show that the consumables
have degraded.
Run the Remove Bubbles wizard. See
"Remove bubbles from the polymer pump
(wizard)"
on page
377.
Replace the Cathode Buffer Container.
Check the fill line on the ABC and the CBC to
ensure that the buffer is above the fill line. See
"Check buffer fill levels"
on page
a buffer if the buffer is at or below the fill line.
Ensure that the septa are fully inserted into
both the Cathode Buffer Container and the
sample plate.
Wipe the spill with a lint-free cloth.
Wipe the condensation with a lint-free cloth.
Ensure that the humidity in the lab is non-
condensing.
Run the Remove Bubbles wizard. See
"Remove bubbles from the polymer pump
(wizard)"
on page
