Troubleshooting

This section describes some basic troubleshooting techniques for the serial/Ethernet transla-
tion units (Digi boards) and the Serial Hall Call Driver Assembly (SC-HCDA).

Serial/Ethernet Translation

The serial I/O protocol used for MCE serial hall call and serial I/O board connections is trans-
lated to and from Ethernet bus protocol for system level communication over the iControl Sys-
tem network. (System hub in iCentral dispatcher. Orange TCP/IP cables.) One of two
assemblies is used:
• SC-HCE-ME
• SC-HCE-EM
The base circuit board is the same for both units. The Ethernet port module used is different.
These assemblies are mechanically configured, then programmed using a special utility pro-
gram running on a Windows 2000 or XP personal computer.

SC-HCE Assemblies

The SC-HCE-ME assembly is shown in the illustration below.
