H-VTEC SYSTEM
OUTLINE
This motorcycle is equipped with the H-VT EC system.
At engine speeds below 6,800 rpm only t he two non-VTEC valves in each cylinder operate (the VT EC valves do not oper-
ate). At these low and mid speeds, the engine operates as a two-valve per cylinder engine.
Above 6,800 rpm all four va lves in each cylinder operate, and t he eng i ne operates as a four-va lve per cylinder engine.
This VTEC syst em allows for improved engine performance and fue l economy, as well as reducing engine noise and harm-
fu l exhaust emissions.
