IGNITION SYSTEM
TROUBLESHOOTING
Inspect
the fo llowing
bef
ore diagnosing
the system.
-
Faulty
spark plug
-
Loose spark
plug cap
or spark
plug
wire
connection
-Water
got
into the
direct
ignition coil
(shorting the ignition
coil
secondary
voltage)
If there
is
no
spark at
either
cylinder,
temporarily
exchange
the d
irect
ignition
coil wit
h the
other go
od one
and
perform
the spa
rk test.
If
there is
spark, the exchanged direct
ig
nitio
n
coil is
fa
ulty.
"Initial
voltage"
of the
ig
nition
primary
coil
is
the battery voltage with
the ignition
switch
turned
to "ON"
and the engine
stop
swit
ch
turned to
"RUN"
(the
engine is not cranked by the starter
motor).
No
spark at
all

in primary coil
(check
at the ECM connector).
