1. ECM Connectors Connection Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the ECM connectors. ECM 26P CONNECTORS
Check fo r loose or poor contact on the ECM con-

nectors.
Connect the ECM connectors.

Short the service check connector with a ju mper

wire (page 5-7).
Turn the ignition switch ON and check t hat t he
MIL blinks.
Start t he eng ine and check t hat the MI L blinks.
Is the MIL blinking 33 times?
YES - GO TO STEP 2.
NO - GO TO STEP 3.
2. Recheck MIL Brinks
Reset the self-d iagnosis m em ory data (page 5-8).
Turn t he ignit ion switch ON and check t hat t he
MIL blinks.
Is the MIL blinking 33 times?
YES - Replace t he ECM.
NO - GO TO STEP 3.
3. Recheck MIL Brinks
SERVICE CHECK CONNECTOR
Remove the j umper wire from t he service check r--J - U _M _ P_ E _ R_W - IR -E - - - - -- - - -- ---,
connector (page 5-7).
Turn the ignitio n switch ON and check t hat the _/"--...__

MIL blinks.

Is the MIL blinking 33 times?
NO - No problem.
YES - GO TO STEP 4.
