No.1 TDC
Turn
the crankshaft clockwise
1/2 turn
(180°),
align
the
"3T"
mark on the
ignition
pulse generator rotor
with
the
index mark on the right crankcase cover.
Check the valve clearance for the No.3 cylinder.
Turn
the crankshaft
clockwise 3/4 turn
(270°
). align
the
"2T" mark on the ignition
pulse
generator
rotor
with the
index mark
on
the
right crankcase cover.
Check
the
valve clearance for
the No.2
cylinder.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise 1/2 turn
(180°).
align
the
"4T"
mark on the
ignition
pulse generator rotor
with the
index mark
on the
right
crankcase cover.
Check the valve clearance
for
the No.4 cylinder.
ADJUSTMENT
Normal valve side:
Remove
the fron
t camshaft
(page 8-11) and rear
camshaft
(page
8-14).
Remove
the
valve
lifters
and shims from
t
he normal
side valve
lifter
bores.
Shim
may
stick to the
inside
of the valve
lifter.
Do
not allow the
shims
to fall
into
the
crankcase.
Mark all valve
lifters
and shims
to
ensure correct
reassembly
in
their original
locat
ions.
• The
valve
lifter
can
be
easily removed with a
va
lve
lapping
too
l
or
magnet.
• Th
e
shims
can
be easi ly removed with
tweezers
or
a
magnet.
