CHARGING VOLTAGE INSPECTION
Be sure the battery is in good condition before per-
form ing this test.
Warm up the engine t o norma l operating tempera -
ture.
Stop the engine, and connect the multimeter as
shown.

Rest art t he engine.

on the mult imeter when the engine runs at 5,000
rpm.
Standard: Measured battery voltage (page 16-5) <
Measured charging voltage (see above) < 15.5 Vat
5,000 rpm
ALTERNATOR CHARGING COIL
It is not necessary
to remove the sta-
tor coil to make this
test.
INSPECTION
Remove t he side cowl (page 2-8).
Disconnect the alternat or 3P (Natu ral) connector.
Check the resistance between all three Yellow term i-
nals.
STANDARD: 0.1 - 1.0
Q
(at 20"C/ 68"F)
Check f or cont inuity between all three Yellow termi-
nals and Ground.
There should be no continuity.
If readings are far beyond t he standard, or if any
wire has continuity to g rou nd, replace t he alternator
stator.
