MAINTENANCE
THROTTLE OPERATION
Check for smooth throttle operation and automatic
full closing in all steering positions.
Check the throttle cables and replace them if they
are deterio rated, kinked or da m aged.
Lubricate the t hrottle cables, if t hrottle operation is
not smooth.
Measure t he f ree play at the t hrottle gri p flange.
FREE PLAY:
2-6 mm
(1/ 16- 1/ 4 in)
Throttle g ri p free play can be adjusted at either end
of the throttle cable.
Minor adjust ments are made with the upper
adjuster.
Adjust the f ree play by loosening the lock nut and
turning the adjuster.
Major adjust ments are made w ith the lower
adjuste r on the throttle body.
Open and support the fuel tank using the equipped
tools (page 3-5).
Adjust the free play by loosening the lock nut and
turning the adj uster.
After adjustment, tighten the lock nut securely.
Recheck the throttle operation.
Replace any damaged parts, if necessary.

Open and support the fuel tank using the equipped
tools (page 3-5).
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the air intake
valve.
Remove the screws and air clea ner housing cover.
