ENGINES.
WARNING
-
Do
not alter
the piston/liner pairing.
-
The
parts
must be clean and free from
impact
marks.
Make sure that there are no burr marks on
the
face of the
cylinder
block.
Insert the liners, without base gaskets, with the
flats (a) on the upper shoulders of liners 1-2 and
3-4 parallel (on XN 1 and XN 2 engines).
-
Place the dial
gauge
and support on the block face.
- Set the
dial
at 0 and 5.
-
Check each
liner
at (A), (C),
(B) and
(D), noting
the reading which is highest (point
(b)).
-
The maximum difference between two
diametri-
cally opposed points must be less than 0.07 mm.
If it is more find the reason (burrs, dust, etc.) and,
if
necessary, change the position of the
liners.
-
Mark the liners
I, 1
1, 111 and IV with a felt tip
pencil.
