DIFFERENTIAL
RE-ASSEMBLY - ADJUSTMENT
- Install the following 1n bottom of bearing
hous ing :
- Thrust washer 2
- Adjustment shims 3 previously selected (l s t
adjustment, page 03 11 )
- Re-install the outer bearing race

- bolt L 1
- thrust plate LS,
· support plate D
• Apply final torque firmly.
Tightening torque 101 ft. lbs {14 m.kg).
- Remove nut

and the front bearing.
- Re-install drive pin ion rn the housing, with ·
- long spacer,
- front bearing,
- nut
J
Tighten ing torque 7.2 ft. lbs

m.kg)
· Rotate drive pin ion 10 turns anti-clockwise ,
· Repeat above operation several times unti I nut
con no longer be tightened under 7 . 2 ft.lbs
( 1
m.kg).
- With the some spline (coloured morlc.) as refe.
rence mark take another reading between end
of shaft and nut
J
using the micrometer pre -
viously set to
1
and 0 (class 5 page 03
12).
- Note the read ing on the dial indicator.
- Find the difference between both figures .
· Substroc
t 0.06
mm.
- The number thus obtained corresponds to the
thickness of the shim to be installed between
the front bearing and the long spacer (2nd
adjustment)
