5.6.3 EXT. I/O BANK CONTROLLER SPECIAL REGISTER

To control the external memory operations, the memory controller uses a dedicated set of special registers
(see Table 5-15). By programming the values in the memory controller special registers, you can specify
such things as

Memory type
External bus width selection
• •
Control signal timing
• •
Ext I/O access cycles control
• •
The sizes of memory banks to be used for arbitrary address spacing
The memory controller uses some special registers to control the generation and processing of the control
signals, addresses, and data that are required by the external devices in a standard system configuration.
The special registers are also used to control access to all banks.
