D RANGE TEST IN NORM AND PWR PATTERN
RANGES
Shift into the D range and hold the accelerator pedal
constant at tho full throttlo valvs opening position.
Check the following:
( a ) 1 - 2 , 2 - 3
a n d 3 - O l D u p - s h i f t s s h o u l d t a k e p l a c e ,
and shift ooints should conform to those shown in the
automatic shift schedule. (See page AX- 421

(b) In th6 same manner, ch€ck the shock and slip at the 1
-2, 2*3 and 3-OlD up-shifts.
EVALUATION
lf the shock is excessive:
. Line pressure is too high
.
Accumulator is defective
r Check ball is defective
(c) Run at the D range lock-up or O/D gear and check
for abnormal noises and vibration.
HINT: The check for the cause of any abnormal noise
and vibration must be made with extremo car€ as it
could also be due to loss of balance in lhs drive shaft,
tire. torouo converter, atc.
