the prop6r locations (See page lN - 1 2).
(a) lf the vehicle is to be jacked up only at th6 front
or rear snd, be surs to block ths wheels at the
opposite end in order to ensura safety.
(b) After th6 vehicle is jacked up. be sure to support
it on stands. lt is extremely dangerous to do any
work on a vehicle raised on a jack alone. even for
a s m a l l j o b t h a t c a n b e f i n i s h e d q u i c k l y .
Observe the following precautions to avoid damaga to
tho following pa rts:
(a) Do not open the cover or case of the ECU unless
absolutoly necessary. (lf the lC terminals are tou-
ched, the lC may be destroyed by static electric-
ity.)
To disconnect vacuum hoses. pull on the snd, not
the middle of the hose.
To pull apart electrical connoctors, pull on the
connector itself, not the wires.
Ba careful not to drop electrrcal componants.
such as sensors or relays. lf they are dropped on
a hard floor. they should be replaced and not
reusod.
W h e n s t e a m c l e a n i n g a n e n g i n e . p r o t o c t t h e d i s -
tributor, air filter, and VCV from water.
Never usa an impact wrench to remove or install
tomperature switch6s or temperature ssnsors.
When checking continuity at the wire connector,
ins6rt the toster probe carefully to prsvent termi-
na ls from bending.
W h e n u s i n g a v a c u u m g a u g e , n e v 6 r f o r c e t h s
hosa onto a connoctor that is too large. Use a
stsp-down adapter instead. Once the hose has
been stretched, it may leak.
Tag hoses before disconnecting them:
(a) When disconnecting vacuum hoses, use tags to
identify how thoy should be reconnectod.
(b) After completing a job, double check that the
vacuum hoses ars properly connected. A label
under the hood shows the propsr layout.
