3. AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT
(a) Stand 5 m (16 ft) away from the steering wheel pad
and pull the pad up 200 mm (7.87 in.).
CAUTION: Before pulling the pad up, check 898in that the
s u r r o u n d i n g a r e a i s s a f e ,
(b) Release the rope to drop th6 stsering wheel pad and
deploy the SRS.
CAUTION: Before deployment, warn everyone nearby in
a loud voico.
HINT: The SRS may not doploy if the sansor lock was
not fully released or the pad was not horizontal when
s u s p e n d e d . l f t h i s o c c u r s , a v o i d a p p l y i n g i n s h o c k t o
the pad and perform the procedure from the starr
a g a i n .
