STEERING _ POWER STEERING
4. INSPECT SPRING
Using a calipers, measure the free length of the spring.
Sprlng free length:
36 mm (1.42 in.)
lf not to specification, replace the spring.
5. IF NECESSARY, REPLACE OIL SEAL
(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
N O T I C E : B e c a r e f u l n o t t o d a m a g e t h o f r o n t h o u s i n g .
(b) Coat a new oil seal lip with power steering fluid.
(c) Using a socket wrench (23 mm) and hammer. drive in
the oil sea l.
NOTICE: Make sure you install tho oil soal facing the
corrgct d irection.

1. COAT WITH POWER STEERING FLUID
(See page SR-49)
2. INSTALL SIDE FRONT PLATE
(a) Install a new shorter straight pin to the plate.
(b) Coat 2 new O - rings with power steering f luid.
( c ) I n s t a l l t h e 2 O - r i n g s t o t h 6 p l a t e .
(d) Install the plate to the vane pump shaft.
3. INSTALL VANE PUMP ROTOR
(a) Install ths rotor to the vane pump shaft with the
inscribed mark facing outward.
(b) Insrall a new snap ring.
