(e) Stake the differential case.

INSTALL RING GEAR ON DIFFERENTIAL CASE
(a) Clean the contact surfac6 of tho difforential case and
the threads of tho ring gear and differential casa.
(b) Heat the ring gear in boiling water.
(c) Carefully rsmovs the ring gear from the water.
(d) After moisture on the ring gear has completely evapo-
rat6d, quickly install the ring gear to the differential
ca se.
HINT: Align the matchmarks on the differential case
and contact the ring gear.
( e ) T e m p o r a r i l y i n s t a l l t h e 8 b o l t s a n d 4 l o c k p l a t e s .
NOTICE: The ring gear sst bolts should not be torqusd
u n t i l t h o r i n g g e a r h a s c o o l e d s u f f i c i e n t l y .
(f) After ths ring gear has cooled sufficiently, torque the
ring gear set bolts.
Torque: 97 N.m (985 kgf.cm,71 ft.lbf)
( S ) U s i n g a p i n p u n c h a n d h a m m e r , s t a k e t h e l o c k p l a t e s .
H I N T : S t a k e o n e c l a w f l u s h w i t h t h 6 f l a t s u r f a c o o f t h e
bolt. For th€ claw contacting the protruding portion of
the bolt, stake only the tightened side.

(a) Using SST and a press, install a new sids bsaring to
the transmission case s ide.
