SEAT BELT INSPECTION
Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) type

hard stoo.
(c) Check that the b6lt is locked and cannot ba extondod
a t t h i s t i m e .
HINT: Conduct this test in a safe aroa. lf the belt doos
not lock. rsmov€ the belt mechanism assembly and
conduct the following static check. Also, whenever
installing a naw belt assembly, verify the proper opor-
ation bofore insta llation.

STATIC TEST
(a) Verify that the belt locks when pulled out quickly'
(b) Remove the locking rotractor assembly.

(c) Tilt th€ retractor slowly.

(d) Verify that the belt can be pulled out at a tilt of 15

degrees or less, and cannot be pulled out at over 45
degrees of tilt.
lf a problem is found, replace the assembly'
