7, INSPECT MAIN SHAFT BEARING
Check the bearing rotation condition and check for
abnormal noise.
lf the bearing is worn or damaged, replace the bearing.

2, INSTALL MAIN SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the bearing thrust collar and compression
spring to ths shaft assembly.
(b) Install the shaft assembly into th6 column uppsr tube.
(c) Secure the upper tube in a vise.
NOTICE: Do not tighten tho vise too tight.
( d ) U s i n g S S T , c o m p r e s s t h e s p r i n g .

NOTICE: Do not bend the univarsaljoint of the main shaft
assembly more than 20',
