4.
NOTE:
22G-U OLIUs require a 10 dB LBO when optically looped.
21G/21G-U OLIUs, with POWER switch set to HIGH, require
a 10 dB LBO when optically looped. 21G/21G-U OLIUs, with
POWER switch set to LOW, 21G2-U/21G3-U OLIUs and
22G2-U/22G3-U/22G4-U OLIUs do not require an LBO.
21-Type OLIUs are used only in the OC-12 shelf.
NOTE:
If fecom is enabled, an inconsistent DCC values alarm
will occur when the OLIUs are looped back. Normally, the
alarm occurs when the user/network parameters on the
OHCTLs at both ends of the DCC are set the same. To clear
the alarm during a fiber loopback, use the
set-fecom:address:com=disable command to disable
the DCC.
At DDM-2000 nodes, install OLIU optical loops.

5.
Determine the optical loss of each OC-3 optical span from office
records or by making the required measurements.
6.
Remove optical loops from OLIUs in the OC-3 optical span being
established.
7.
NOTE:
The network elements that terminate on each end of the
optical span must have their Network Side/User Side
parameters set to opposite values to avoid an
inconsistent DCC values alarm. Network Side/User
Side parameters [set-fecom command] must be properly
set at each end of OC-3 optical spans. One end is
provisioned as "Network" and the other end is provisioned as
"User". Both ends of the OC-3 line cannot be the same and it
makes no difference which end is "Network".
