37.
NOTE:
Traffic is now passing from Node 1 (CO) to Node 4 (RTn)
and is accessible to all of the RTs from this direction. The
following steps will work back from Node 4 to Node 2,
reconfiguring the fibers and upgrading the software at each
node.
If this is an add/drop network (with traffic terminating at other
nodes but not at the CO), continue with Step 38. If this is a drop
network (with traffic terminating only between the CO and another
node), continue with Step 41.
38.
!
CAUTION:
If this is an add/drop network instead of a drop network and
channels are "added" at the node being converted, service
interruption will occur when cross-connections are deleted.
The following must be performed prior to disconnecting the
fibers from this node to the downstream node to minimize
out-of-service time. For example, if channels are added and
dropped between Node 3 and Node 4, pass-through
cross-connections must be established in all remaining
nodes to minimize service interruption.
For all added channels, use the ent-crs-( ) command(s) to
set up pass through cross-connections from fn-c to main at all
nodes leading back to Node 1 (CO).
39. Ensure main-to-main pass-through cross-connections are made
at the CO as specified in Step 33.
40. At the node being converted, use the dlt-crs-( ) command to
delete the cross-connections from function unit A or B (fn-a,
fn-b) to function unit C (fn-c). .br Immediately after each
cross-connection is deleted, use the ent-crs-( ) command to
reroute the channel from fn-a or fn-b to main. This routes the
added traffic channel back to the CO and over the installed ring
nodes to the intended drop points.
41. At Node 3, use the dlt-crs-vt1: or dlt-crs-sts1:
command to delete all "main" to "fn-c" cross-connections.
