: Detailed Level Procedure
Upgrade BBF2 TGS To BBF2B/BBF2C TGS
!
1.
CAUTION:
If shelves in a bay are connected together with timing mult cabling,
changing the timing mode on one system may affect the timing for other
systems. Ensure that proper timing arrangements are made for all
affected shelves.
NOTE:
This procedure may be used to replace existing BBF2 TGS circuit packs
with BBF2B/BBF2C TGS or BBF4 TG3 circuit packs.
Verify that there are no alarms or protection switches present on the system.
2.
Set new BBF2B/BBF2C TGS or BBF4 TG3 circuit pack option switches as
required.
Reference: DLP-513
3.
Is timing mode DS1 External?
If YES, then continue with Step 4.
If NO, then proceed to Step 6.
4.
Check external timing references to ensure they are good.
5.
NOTE:
ED-8C724-20, G339, G340, or G341 cables are used to connect timing
references to shelf 1 in a bay. ED-8C724-20, G373 or G374 (rear
access) or ED-8C724-21, G414 and G415 (front access) cables are used
to multiple timing references to subsequent shelves in the bay (for
example, from shelf 1 to shelf 2, from shelf 2 to shelf 3, etc.). The cable
from the timing reference source to shelf 1 is connected to jack J37 on
the shelf backplane (or J237 of the front access cable). The cable from
shelf 1 (or lower shelf) to the next higher shelf is connected from jack J44
(P237) of the lower shelf to jack J37 (J237) of the next higher shelf.
