Upgrade DDM-2000 OC-12 Ring by Removing OC-12
Shelf and Replacing with Existing Single-Homed
DO ITEMS BELOW IN ORDER LISTED. . . . . FOR DETAILS, GO TO
1.
NOTE:
This procedure is used to remove an OC-12 shelf from an
OC-12 ring network that has an in-service OC-3 shelf
single-homed on it. The existing OC-3 shelf is equipped with
24/29-Type OLIUs and cut into the OC-12 ring. It is
assumed that the fiber being used in the current OC-12 ring
network will be used in the new configuration.
NOTE:
This procedure assumes an OC-12 TARP Release 7 or later,
ring configuration with one OC-3 TARP Release 13 or later,
shelf single-homed (0X1) on the OC-12 shelf being removed.
This procedure uses a 3-node OC-12 ring as an example for
the upgrade (See Figure 1). This procedure will eliminate the
NODE 1 OC-12 shelf and replace it with the NODE 5 OC-3
shelf after equipping the OC-3 shelf with 24/29-Type OLIUs.
NOTE:
A spare OC-3 shelf is required to preprovision the SYSCTL
and 24/29-Type OLIUs with the proper software, cross
connections, synchronization requirements and TID settings.
NOTE:
You may also contact Lucent Technologies to provide this
in-service upgrade. Experienced Lucent Technologies
installers will help you plan and execute the network
upgrade. For more information, contact your Lucent
Technologies Account Representative.
Contact maintenance center or use the rtrv-alm: command to
verify that no alarms, locks, or switches are present.
