15. Is ACTIVE LED lighted on both service and protection OLIUs
(rtrv-state-eqpt:)?
If YES, then proceed to Step 17.
If NO, then continue with Step 16.
16. Is alarm Critical or Minor?
If MINOR, then proceed to Step 19.
If CRITICAL, then continue with Step 17.
17.
NOTE:
Indications are that the near-end or far-end OLIU or incoming fiber line
has failed and protection switching has been inhibited or locked at one or
both ends. Also, if the protection fiber fails, the ACTIVE LEDs on both
OLIUs will be lighted because of the uncertain state of the far end. If the
rtrv-state-eqpt: report indicates active-? for the protection line
[slot 2(P)], indications are that the protection line is failed. If the service
line (slot 1), indicates active-rx at both ends of the system, the service
line is carrying all service.
Use CIT and rtrv-state-eqpt: command to check switch status at BOTH
ends of the system.
18. Use CIT and switch-line: command to reset switch and switch both
near-end and far-end lines to OLIU pair without lighted FAULT LED.
19.
NOTE:
Local procedures may require you to check optical fibers first before
replacing OLIUs.
Replace OLIU with lighted or flashing FAULT LED.
Reference: DLP-523
