CAUTION:
When a DS1/DS1PM is switched to protection, removal of any other
DS1/DS1PM circuit pack or 177A Retainer Card in the same group will
result in a loss of service to the protected DS1/DS1PM and the removed
DS1/DS1PM circuit pack.
Are line code (AMI or B8ZS) settings set manually (with switches) or with a
CIT?
If MANUALLY, then continue with Step 4.
If CIT, then proceed to Step 10.
4. Is protection DS1/DS1PM circuit pack available for protection switch?
If YES, then continue with Step 5.
If NO, then proceed to Step 8.
5. Remove service DS1/DS1PM circuit pack, set option switches as required and
reinstall DS1/DS1PM circuit pack.

6. Momentarily depress UPD/INIT pushbutton on SYSCTL to update equipment
list.
7. STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
8. Option settings on the DS1/DS1PM must be set or verified as set before
placing the DS1 port in service. Wait until the protection DS1/DS1PM is
available or obtain a CIT to set the options.
9. STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.
10. Use set-t1: command to set DS1/DS1PM port options.
11. STOP. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROCEDURE.

CAUTION:
