If the LED-based troubleshooting above is unsuccessful, further diagnosis must be
carried out using a notebook computer. Login to the DDM-2000 using a standard
terminal emulator software (i.e. TERM). Retrieve alarms using the rtrv-alm
command. The system will respond with a list of alarms in decreasing order of
severity. Generally, alarms are also cleared in this order, since an alarm of a higher
severity can generate one or more alarms of lower severity. Recovery procedures for
Critical, Major, and Minor alarms can be found in TAP-101, TAP-102, and TAP-112
in the User/Service Manual. The rtrv-hsty is another command that is useful in
diagnosis. It retrieves up to 500 of the most recent system events.

Escalation

Attempt to resolve the trouble condition within the first hour on premises. If the trouble has
not been rectified within two hours of starting work on the equipment, contact your Regional
Technical Assistance Center (RTAC) (1-800-225-RTAC) or Lucent Customer Technical
Support (CTS). The two hour time limit is a general guideline, find out if any specific Service
Level Agreements have been contracted to with the customer. These will take precedence
over this limit.

Conclusion of Maintenance Process
a.
Complete the service work ticket logging the time on the job, circuit packs or other
materials used. Obtain customer signature if the work was on a time and materials
basis, the signature is not required for work done under a maintenance contract.
b.
Return defective circuit packs to the appropriate logistic channel or to your
supervisor, this is important since replacement of spares is vital for continued
operations.
c.
Place orders for any spares consumed on the job.
