5.
CAUTION:
Take care to avoid damaging the LEDs that protrude through the opening
in the faceplate of the TGS/TG3 .
NOTE:
If external timing mode is used and other installed shelves above this
shelf are connected together with bay mult cables for DS1 timing,
installing a TGS/TG3 circuit pack causes a momentary loss of an
incoming DS1 timing reference. This may result in an inc. DS1 sync.
ref. LOS alarm on all shelves above this shelf that are connected to the
same bay mult cabling. This momentary loss of timing reference does not
affect transmission.
NOTE:
A TGS/TG3 circuit pack is required in TIMING slot 1 to protect against
accidentally downloading wrong software and interrupting transmission.
Transmission configuration information is stored in the TGS/TG3 circuit
pack in TIMING slot 1. During software download procedures the
software checks the information stored in the TGS/TG3 circuit pack. If the
information is incompatible with the controller software information, an
alarm is generated.
NOTE:
If a signal has previously been applied to the original BBF2B/BBF2C
TGS or BBF4 TG3 circuit pack, the FAULT lamp will flash when the new
BBF2B/BBF2C TGS or BBF4 TG3 is installed until the signal tests good.
NOTE:
If the response is not correct in the following procedures, check option
switches and replace the TGS/TG3 circuit pack. When a circuit pack is
inserted, the FAULT LED lights immediately and remains lighted until the
circuit pack tests good. The green ACTIVE LED lights on the first
TGS/TG3 circuit pack installed. After the TGS/TG3 tests good, the
FAULT LED goes off.
Install first TGS/TG3 in TIMING slot 1.
Response:
FAULT LED on the TGS/TG3 lights. ACTIVE LED lights.
FAULT LED goes off after about 15 seconds.
