!
CAUTION:
This procedure requires 22-Type OLIU circuit packs in all
shelves. If existing OLIU s will be replaced in this procedure
[DLP-542] , you must determine if the 22-Type OLIU s will
support the existing span length. For example,
22F/22F-U/22F2-U OLIU circuit packs will not support span
lengths as long as 21G/21G-U/21G2-U/21G3-U OLIU circuit
packs will support. Optical line power measurements and/or
office records must be used to verify that the existing span
length can be supported.
!
CAUTION:
This procedure requires an optical splitter and fiber couplers
to connect the splitter to the optical line. This procedure has
been tested using a Gould fiber splitter which introduces 3
dB of loss into the fiber span. The amount of loss may differ
for the type of splitter used and must be considered when
doing an upgrade. If there is not enough excess loss budget
in the optical spans between the CO and first RT to allow the
use of a splitter and fiber couplers, the upgrade may be
performed out of service. Optical fiber switches which
introduce no loss may also be used, but require extra steps
in the upgrade procedure which are not documented. Fiber
splitters and/or switches are available from manufacturers
such as Gould, Fibercell, Corning, DiCon, ADC, and others.
!
CAUTION:
DDM-2000 circuit packs contain static sensitive components
which can be damaged by electrostatic discharge. A static
ground wrist strap must be worn when handling the circuit
packs. See electrostatic discharge considerations in Trouble
